We are pleased to announce the 40th Annual Great Plains Writers Conference keynote speaker and date. The conference theme is “The Role of the Humanities in the Digital Age: The GPWC at 40 Years.” The conference will take place on Monday, March 21st, 2016, with writing-themed panels/workshops throughout the day (including readings from our state-wide middle and high school writing contest winners and the presentation of the Emerging Tribal Writer award), followed by a keynote address at 7:00 at McCrory Gardens.
Professor Janet H. Murray (http://lmc.gatech.edu/~murray/) is our guest of honor and keynote speaker for the event. Professor Murray currently serves as Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Affairs for the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts at the Georgia Institute of Technology (aka Georgia Tech) as well as the Ivan Allen College Dean’s Professor for the School of Literature, Communication, and Culture. She is the author of the hugely influential Hamlet on the Holodeck: The Future of Narrative in Cyberspace (MIT Press, 1998), which will be published in an updated version (and as an e-book) by Simon and Schuster in February 2016.
